Iconic Jersey Tomato Culture
Jersey culture and Jersey tomatoes are bound together in the soil where the seeds of Jersey tomatoes were bred to thrive.

It doesn’t get any more local than that.

I’ve written a book and will be developing an archive about the deep history that exists here.

The idea is to celebrate the Jersey tomato, which intersects with all aspects of Jersey culture, like food, history, art, folk, and writing. Then match it to your passion, and keep the history and story going in your own way.

Warhol

“I used to drink it. I used to have the same lunch every day, for 20 years, I guess, the same thing over and over again.”
—Andy Warhol

When Warhol’s Campbell’s Soup Can series debuted in 1962, little did anyone know how iconic that Warhol and that series would become. An Esquire cover from May 1969 shows Warhol being sucked into the contents of a Campbell’s Tomato Soup can.

The tomato soup can is arguably the most popular out of the series.

Thanks Campbell’s tomato breeding program.

Classic American comfort food combo
Tomato soup and a grilled cheese sandwich. Comfort food at its best.

Campbell’s tomato soup contributed significantly to the platform that this combo is served on.

Thanks again Campbell’s tomato breeding program.

Overlooked until now, these contributions demonstrate what Iconic Jersey Tomato Culture is about.
